2013 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

The LIBER of LIBERTY and the S of TRUST throw trails at 330°, north-northwest, on 2013P-1DEO-003T. In the code, 2013P gives the year and the Philadelphia mint, 1 means a cent, DEO means a design extension on the obverse, and 003 and T give the file and the trail type. TrailDies lists no obverse markers at the middle die state; the reverse has a crack on the shield's upper left. The lines on the S of TRUST help separate it from 2013P-1DEO-007T, whose trails at the same angle come only from LIBERTY. Joe Koelling is credited with the find. Lines like these are normally attributed to polishing the die with a spinning buff, with movement between die and hub offered by some as the alternative.
