Description
On 2013P-1DEO-002T the trails show on the date digits and the Y in LIBERTY, and TrailDies estimates their direction at roughly 025°, north-northeast, up and slightly right. The number decodes as 2013 Philadelphia, a cent (1), an obverse (DEO, design extension obverse), file 002 and trails (T). It is an early-die-state coin (stage A): light scratches run northwest to southeast in front of Lincoln's lips, chin and neck, and on the reverse light scratches head northeast from the top of the shield. Ronald Traino found it. The usual explanation is rotary polishing of the die; a smaller camp argues the die moved against the hub instead.
