Description
2013P-5DER-008T shows trails from the motto words PLURIBUS UNUM, the right side of the Monticello building and the LLO of MONTICELLO. The heading of the TrailDies entry gives the offset direction as 050°, northeast, toward the upper right; the text itself does not repeat it. The code means a 2013 Philadelphia (2013P) nickel (5), reverse design extension (DER), file 008, trails (T). The coin is described as middle die state on both sides with no markers. TrailDies names James Karnes as the finder. The die is thought to have picked up these lines from polishing with a rotary buff, though a minority think it moved against the hub.
