2013 (P) Jefferson Nickel - P-5DER-004T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Like 2013P-5DER-003T, this die, 2013P-5DER-004T, has trails on the lettering beneath Monticello, but here they are heaviest toward the right and point to 120°, east-southeast, toward the lower right. TrailDies' code: the year 2013 with P for Philadelphia, 5 for the nickel, then DER, 004 and T, meaning reverse design extension, file four and trails. The coin, at a middle die state, has a small gouge left of the first T in TRUST and no reverse markers. Like file 003, it was found by Ron Traino. Rotary polishing of the die is the explanation usually given for trails; the alternative is that the die moved against the hub.
