Description
On 2012P(SAC)-100DER-001T, the reverse of a 2012 Native American dollar, trails rise from the f of OF and from the AM and IC of AMERICA, pointing 350°, slightly west of due north. TrailDies' file number opens with 2012P (year and mint) and (SAC), adds 100 for the dollar and DER for the reverse, and closes with 001 and the T of a trail die. Jean Lee found the die. Its early-state coin (stage A) shows no reverse markers, and the obverse paired with it is also a trail die, listed as 2012P-100DEO-002T. Trails are generally attributed to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some point to movement of the die against the hub.
