Description
2011P-1DER-003T shows trails at 180°, straight down the coin, coming off the designer's initials beneath CENT, the NT in that word and MER in AMERICA. The number combines 2011P (Philadelphia, 2011), 1 (the cent), DER (TrailDies' code for a reverse design extension), 003 (file) and T (trails). TrailDies' stage B coin has a forked crack through Lincoln's brow and forehead and, on the reverse, a die scratch across the top of the S in PLURIBUS. Steven Bingham found the die. TrailDies compares its 006T with this die; the 180° bearing and that S scratch are the points to check. Trails are usually attributed to polishing the die with a rotary tool; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a forked die crack is seen in Lincoln’s brow and forehead.
- Reverse is MDS – a die scratch is seen through the top of the S in PLURIBUS.
