Description
Lines on the letters of LIBERTY run two ways on 2011P-1DEO-012T: up at 000°, toward the top of the coin, and down at 180°, toward the bottom. The TrailDies number stands for a 2011 Philadelphia cent (2011P, 1), DEO for a design extension found on the obverse, file 012, and T for trails. TrailDies points out one line on its coin that is not a trail, so not every mark near LIBERTY counts. At a middle die state, the obverse has two die cracks in Lincoln's head, and on the reverse a crack with a chip has formed at the top left of the shield. James Mitchell found the die. The usual view is that trails come from polishing the die with a rotary buff; a smaller camp attributes them to the die moving against the hub.

- Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – two die cracks are seen in Lincoln’s head.
- Reverse is MDS – a die crack with a die chip, has formed along the left top edge of the shield.
