2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-007T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Rather than separate lines, 2011P-1DEO-007T shows what TrailDies calls a ramped design extension across LIBERTY, which it treats as another form of trail die. The apparent offset direction is 250°, west-southwest, toward the lower left of the coin. Split up, the code gives 2011P for year and Philadelphia mint, 1 for one cent, DEO for the obverse, where the design extends, file 007 and T for trails. TrailDies shows two examples of the die, one earlier in its life (an early middle die state) and one at a middle die state, and it found no markers on either side. Ramped letters and trails alike are usually blamed on polishing the die with a rotary tool, though some point to the die moving against the hub.
