2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-006T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Two separate sets of trails mark 2011P-1DEO-006T. One hangs from the bottoms of IBER in LIBERTY at 180°, due south; the other climbs from the tops of the 1s in the date at 010°, just east of north. The number gives the year, P for the Philadelphia Mint, the denomination digit 1, DEO (TrailDies' code for an obverse design extension), file 006 and the trails letter T. Nothing stands out on the obverse of the middle-die-state coin described, while the reverse shows a small die chip at the top left of the shield's outline. Tom Steinbaugh found the die. A rotary buff used to polish the die is the cause most often named, though some attribute the lines to the die moving against the hub.
