2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-004T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Here the trails come off the TR of TRUST, in front of Lincoln's face, and run at 300°, west-northwest, so they point up and to the left. TrailDies numbers the die 2011P-1DEO-004T, meaning a 2011 cent from Philadelphia (2011P, 1), an extended design on the portrait side (DEO), file 004 and trails (T). Compass bearings on these pages are read clockwise from the top of the coin, with 000° straight up. TrailDies found no obverse marker on its stage B example; on the reverse a die chip sits high on the shield's left border. Tanaka Davis found the die. Trails are most often traced to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to die-to-hub movement.
