2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

2011P-1DEO-001T is file 001 in TrailDies' list of 2011 Philadelphia cent obverses with trails; the code strings together the date and P, the 1 of the one-cent denomination, DEO to flag a design extension on the front of the coin, the file and a closing T. Light lines rise off the tops of the date's digits and lean a little to the left, at 350°, just west of north. TrailDies notes slanting scratches across the bow tie, a crack on the forehead and a small gouge to the southwest of the second T in TRUST on its stage B coin; the reverse has gouges on each side of the T in CENT. Louis Schaeffer found it. Most writers on trails blame a rotary tool used to polish the die, while a smaller group thinks the die moved against the hub.
