2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - -1DER-012T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Light trails come off the inside corners of MERICA on 2011-1DER-012T and run at 170°, a little east of due south. TrailDies' number for this 2011 Philadelphia cent carries no mint letter; it reads 2011, then 1 (cent), DER (reverse design extension), 012 (file) and T (trails). This is a late-state coin. Its obverse has a small gouge above the S in TRUST, a crack on the forehead and another through the hair running northeast toward the first T of TRUST; the reverse has a small crack and break at the upper left of the shield. Louis Schaeffer found the die. Trails are generally attributed to polishing the die with a rotary tool, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
