2009 (D) Lincoln Cent - Formative Years - D(FY)-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

The lines on 2009D(FY)-1DEO-003T rise from the tops of the LIBERTY letters at 010°, almost straight up but leaning slightly right, just east of north. TrailDies' code: 2009, D for Denver, (FY) for the Formative Years reverse this obverse was struck with, the digit 1 for a cent, DEO because the trails are on the obverse, file 003, and the trail letter T. The middle-die-state coin in the entry has a clean obverse; its reverse shows a crack from the back end of the log out to the rim. TrailDies names no finder. Rotary polishing of the die is the main explanation offered for trails, with some preferring the idea of the die moving against the hub.
