The 2009 Lincoln Cent is a United States cent from the Lincoln Bicentennial Cents 2009 series — the only year of issue. In 2009, the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints struck 2,372,259,372 cents in all, counting each issue once: 2,354,000,000 for circulation, 6,276,912 satin finish cents for Mint Sets and 11,982,460 proofs. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays four different designs released throughout 2009, each representing a stage of Lincoln's life. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. The circulation cents were struck in copper-plated zinc and weigh 2.5 grams; the satin finish Mint Set cents and the San Francisco proofs were struck in the 1909 alloy of 95% copper with tin and zinc and weigh 3.11 grams. All are 19.05 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Designed by Victor David Brenner (obverse); the four reverses were designed by Richard Masters, Charles Vickers, Joel Iskowitz and Susan Gamble.
