2006 (P) Jefferson Nickel - P-5DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

TrailDies' 2006P-5DEO-003T has light trails on the word WE and on the TR of TRUST, heading 350°, just west of north and toward the top of the coin. Read in order, the code gives 2006, Philadelphia, a nickel (5), an obverse design extension (DEO), file 003 and the T suffix for trails. A gouge in the field below the 2 of the date marks the obverse at this middle die state, and the reverse is peppered with small gouges in and around FIVE. Tanaka Davis found it. Trails are mostly credited to a rotary polisher dragging across the die, though another opinion holds that the die moved against the hub.
