Description
2006P-5DEO-002T, the second of TrailDies' 2006 Philadelphia nickel obverses with trails, has faint lines on the tops of the LIBERTY letters and on the RUT in TRUST. They run at 040°, northeast, toward the upper right. In the number, 5 is the nickel, DEO tells you the obverse has a design extension, 002 is its place in the file and T means trails. No obverse markers are noted at the middle die state described. The reverse has a die dot above the E of MONTICELLO, slightly left of it, and another on the building's right side, between a window and the arch. Tanaka Davis is credited with finding it. Usually such trails are blamed on die polishing with a rotary tool, though some attribute them to the die moving on the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – none noted
- Reverse is MDS – a die dot is seen above and to the left of the E in MONTICELLO. A die dot is seen in between the window and the arch on the right side of MONTICELLO.
