2004 (P) Florida State Quarter - P(FL)-25DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2004P(FL)-25DER-001T is a trail die on the reverse of the 2004 Florida state quarter from Philadelphia. TrailDies inserts the state, FL, after the date and mint; 25 is the quarter, DER a reverse design extension, 001 the file and T trails. The lines leave the lower left corners of RIDA in FLORIDA and run due west at 270°, toward the left edge. Light scratches cross the state name from upper left to lower right, and on the obverse faint vertical scratches pass through the motto, both at the middle die state described. Bob Piazza of Florida found the die. The usual explanation for trails is that the die was polished with a rotary buff; a minority links them to movement of the die against the hub.
