Description

ADC-100c-1887-01 EMDS is an atypical die clash on an 1887 Morgan dollar in an early to middle die state, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. Neither the obverse nor the reverse die was abraded after the clash. The die is a listed VAM, 1887P VAM-3A. MDC's overlay shows where the dies sat when they clashed. On the obverse, laurel leaves clashed through the area of Liberty's lip and chin. MDC also pictures marks from the upper edge of the eagle's left wing, the ST of TRUST, the laurel leaves on the wreath's left side, the back of Liberty's hair and cap, and the line of her throat. A die scratch through the eagle's right wing is a positive marker for this VAM. MDC has also added a late die state example of the die.
