Description
2000D-5DEO-001T is a Jefferson nickel obverse. The number gives the year 2000 with Denver's D, then 5 for the five-cent denomination, DEO for TrailDies' design extension obverse, file 001 and T for trails. The lines come off UST in TRUST and run straight up, at 000°, due north. The late-die-state example TrailDies describes has no obverse markers; on the reverse a small gouge sits in the lower part of the final A of AMERICA. Tanaka Davis found it. Rotary polishing of the die is the cause most often given for trails; others point to the die working against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – none noted.
- Reverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen in the lower part of the last A in AMERICA.
