1995 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-006WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

1995D-1DER-006WS has moderate step bending across five columns, 4 through 8, and fluting from columns 10 and 11 extending into the stylobate, offset at 170°, a little east of due south. Bent-looking stairs crossed by trail lines are what TrailDies means by wavy steps. The number decodes as a 1995 Denver cent (1995D, 1), design extension reverse (DER), file 006, wavy steps (WS). Patrick Gaughan of Pennsylvania found the die. The stage B coin has a gouge to the right of LIBERTY's T and a die dot to the right of the O in ONE. Such lines are generally traced to polishing of the die, and a minority view connects them to die-to-hub movement.
