Description

Only documented cud for the 1995 Denver Lincoln Memorial Cent, this solitary die break stands alone despite the billions of cents Denver struck that year. The single cud may reflect genuinely low die failure rates or incomplete documentation for mid-1990s production. Cuds form when sustained stress propagates a fracture through the die rim until a section separates, and the resulting cavity fills with planchet metal to produce a raised featureless blob. By 1995 the Memorial Cent had been in production for thirty-six years. Cross-referenced as CU-1C-1995D-01, cataloged by Cuds on Coins.
