1987 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

TrailDies' 1987D-1DEO-001T comes from a late-stage die, and the coin it describes also has plating trouble between its copper skin and zinc core. Even so, trails can be picked out on the tops of the BERT of LIBERTY, with the entry giving the direction as 340°, north-northwest. The code itself says Denver 1987 (1987D), cent (1), obverse side (DEO), file 001, trails (T). It is graded stage C. The S of TRUST has a scratch on its lower end, and on the reverse an old gouge sits just right of the D in UNITED. No finder is named. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the usual explanation for trails, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
