Description

Among the most extensively documented 1986-D RPMs, WRPM-010 is cross-referenced to CONECA RPM #8 and carries dual Coppercoins listings under both 1986D-1MM-008 and 1986D-1MM-018. Stage A obverse markers include an east-west die scratch through the upper E in LIBERTY, a die gouge under U in TRUST, and die gouges left of I in LIBERTY. By Stage B, these weaken, with new markers emerging: a die gouge behind Lincoln's head and gouges in the vest west of the lower mint mark. The reverse Stage A shows east-west die gouges inside the rim above OF and the last S in STATES, three parallel die scratches from the tip of the last A in AMERICA, a gouge along the M in UNUM's left diagonal crossbar, a tiny gouge below B in PLURIBUS, a gouge south from U in UNUM, and two gouges above the right memorial roof. By Stage B, only the roof gouges and motto remain clear, and a large gouge has appeared in the C of AMERICA. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets at 2.5 grams and 19mm.
