Description
Bearing VarietyVista identifiers UVC-1005 and DMR-007, RPM-006 represents another repunched mint mark on the 1986-D Lincoln Memorial cent with a fully unconfirmed three-stage die state record. Stage A (EDS), Stage B (MDS), and Stage C (LDS) have each been documented but none definitively verified. During 1986, Denver Mint employees hand-punched individual D mint marks into each working die — a labor-intensive process where angle, pressure, and position could vary, occasionally requiring correction punches that produced the secondary impressions collectors now seek. The entirely unconfirmed status means that while the repunching pattern is recognized, collectors should approach die state attribution with caution until stronger reference specimens emerge. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets at 2.5 grams and 19mm from the 1986 mintage of over 4.4 billion cents.
