1986-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

A D/D North variety where the initial punch landed above its intended position, WRPM-007 on the 1986-D Lincoln Memorial cent is cross-referenced to CONECA RPM #2 and Coppercoins 1986D-1MM-002, with an additional example provided to show the doubling. Obverse die markers include a die gouge right of the second T in TRUST, a die gouge on Lincoln's vest southwest of the 1 in the date, light southwest-to-northeast die scratches under D in GOD, and light north-south die scratches behind Lincoln's head. Reverse markers feature a die gouge inside and right of the lower O in ONE, a die gouge running north from the upper right edge of the A in STATES, and a series of die gouges under N and I of UNITED. The low CONECA number (RPM #2) indicates this was among the earliest 1986-D RPMs cataloged. Struck at Denver on copper-plated zinc planchets at 2.5 grams and 19mm from the 1986 mintage of 4,442,866,698 cents.
