1986-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

Carrying a particularly detailed provenance record, WRPM-004 on the 1986-D Lincoln Memorial cent is cross-referenced to CONECA RPM #13 and Coppercoins 1986D-1MM-013, but its history reveals a more complex story. Originally submitted to CONECA as RPM #6 by Delma K Romines, the specimen displayed carbon spots left of the lower mint mark and above the mint mark. That RPM #6 was later delisted, but the same coin was subsequently re-listed as RPM #13. Photographs of the original submission appear in The RPM Book Second Edition by James Wiles, PhD. Overlay analysis comparing the original RPM #6 and the re-listed RPM #13 confirms the coins are identical in position, validating the reclassification.
