1963 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-012

Description

1963 WDDO-012 is a doubled die obverse on the 1963 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A moderate Class II spread toward the center appears on the designer's initials. On the obverse, an E/W die crack crosses the hair. Old scratches include a N/S one between the date's 6 and 3, a WNW/ESE one over UST in TRUST, a N/S one right of LIBERTY's Y and a NW/SE one at the back of the neck. A N/S scratch lies between WE's E and TRUST's first T, scratches extend NW from the chin and from the brow, and N/S scratches mark the bridge of the nose. On the reverse, a NE/SW scratch crosses the left olive leaf cluster, two scratches run from the torch bottom to ONE's E, and NE/SW scratches lie between DIME and the oak stem. A NE/SW scratch runs from PLURIBUS's last U to the torch, a N/S scratch from the right dot to AMERICA's last A, and an old scratch runs S from STATES's E. John A. Wexler submitted the variety.
