1960-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the 1960-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Roosevelt Silver Dime carries a repunched D mintmark from the Denver Mint. Die markers UVC-357 / DMR-002 track three stages: Stage A with numerous die scratches North-South on reverse and in front of face, both at EDS; Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with a die crack from torch bottom to lower right branch tip at LDS, a die crack from head to rim at K-12:00 at LDS, and a die crack in upper hair. The three distinct Stage C die cracks radiating from different areas of the design document widespread structural failure. Designed by John R. Sinnock, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm at Denver. As RPM-001, this was likely the earliest discovered or most prominent repunched mintmark for the date.
