1960-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-034
Error
Description
Briefly documented with three die stages, RPM-034 is a repunched mintmark variety on the 1960-D Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-679/DMR-047. Stage A (EDS): obverse and reverse are EDS. Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed). Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). With two of three stages unconfirmed, RPM-034 represents one of the least documented varieties in this range, suggesting either limited surviving specimens or that additional examples await discovery and staging. The EDS confirmation for Stage A means that at minimum, early die state specimens have been examined and the repunched mintmark verified at full strength before production wear could erode the secondary impression. Among the more than forty RPM varieties cataloged by VarietyVista on the 1960-D Large Date cent, entries with sparse staging like RPM-034 offer opportunities for collectors to contribute new die state documentation — discovering and photographing intermediate or late state specimens that fill gaps in the current record.
