Description
1955PR-1DEO-001 is filed by TrailDies without a closing letter: the code gives the year, PR for a proof, 1 for the cent, DEO for an obverse design extension and file 001, and stops there. The trails on this 1955 proof Lincoln Wheat cent sit on the date and on the TR in TRUST, at 170°, a little east of due south. TrailDies also notes thickened letters in the motto with dividing lines inside them. On the stage B coin, a scratch lies over the 55 of the date, and a curved reverse scratch joins the last T of STATES to the last A of AMERICA; that reverse has its own separate listing, 1955P1DR-003P. Robert Pelletier found the pair. Trails are mostly attributed to rotary polishing of the die, though some favour die movement against the hub.
