1955 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1955-D WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1955-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D/D Tilted (Rotated). On the obverse, the 55 of the date is crossed by NE-to-SW scratches. Many scratches, mostly north to south, lie behind the head, and heavy NNE-to-SSW scratches run all over the nose. On the reverse, SW scratches link the lower torch with NE in ONE. Gouges sit beside UNITED's I, on the right of its upper part, and left of the upper O in OF. AMERICA's M is crossed by scratches at its top, and a heavy scratch crosses what Wexler calls the upper IN in AMERICA. David Goff submitted the variety, with additional photos from a coin Eric Axtell submitted. Wexler lists no cross-references and notes this is a replacement listing, since the original files were missing from the Bordner files.
