Description
1954-S WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1954-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary S is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (S/S Tilted (Rotated)). The obverse is in a very late die state (VLDS): a NW/SE die crack crosses the hair, another crack crosses the base of the bust, north-south scratches cover the obverse, and a strong north-south scratch lies under the LI of LIBERTY. On the reverse, east-west scratches cover the upper reverse; a strong east-west scratch lies left of the M in MONTICELLO; CENTS has thin east-west scratches across it; and an east-west scratch spans the gap from OF's F to the first A in AMERICA. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
