1954 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-006

Description

1954-S WRPM-006 is a repunched mint mark on the 1954-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies north of the primary S (S/S North). On Obverse Stage A, an east-west die scratch joins the bottom of the TY in LIBERTY and runs east to the 1 in the date, and further east-west scratches lie under the TY. On Obverse Stage B the Stage A scratches are weaker. On Reverse Stage A, a short east-west scratch lies west of Monticello's left base; a light scratch heads ENE off the right side of the roof; and the E in STATES has a gouge at its upper bottom. On Reverse Stage B the scratch from the roof has been abraded away, all other Stage A markers are weaker, and the die shows much fatigue around Monticello. Tim Wissert submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
