Error
Description
Documented by VarietyVista, this Washington Silver Quarter from the Denver Mint exhibits a D/D Rotated CW repunched mintmark, with the obverse die also listed as ODV-005 (Shifted Die Obverse), creating a dual-variety coin. Die markers UVC-0763 / DMR-010: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse and obverse at MDS; Stage C with reverse at LDS and a die crack across the forehead and hair at LDS. The die crack traversing Washington's portrait documents advanced structural fatigue. Designed by John Flanagan, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm, the 1951-D had approximately 35.4 million pieces. The RPM-plus-SDO combination gives collectors two distinct variety classifications from a single specimen.
