1948 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-015

Description

1948-S WRPM-015 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies west of the primary S (S/S West). On the obverse, many NW/SE die scratches lie in the fields, with two strong ones in front of the eyebrow; a short scratch runs NW from the U in TRUST, starting at its left serif, out to the rim; and the N in IN has a small gouge in its upper opening. On the reverse, strong NW/SE scratches lie in both arches; two strong scratches extend SE from the S mint mark; strong north-south scratches lie between MONTICELLO and FIVE CENTS; short north-south scratches lie above the building; two strong scratches cross the first U in UNUM; and a large gouge sits under the M in UNUM.
