Description

S/S South Die Markers: Obverse: Strong N/S die gouges at top right of Jefferson's forehead; die scratches through BER of LIBERTY. Reverse: The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1948-S 5¢ WDDR-001. Close Class II doubling shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM increasing from left to right. Doubling shows slightly on OF AMERICA. Many die scratches in right arch; slanted die scratch inside lower portion of D of UNITED.
