Description
1948-S WRPM-014 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies west of the primary S (S/S West). On the obverse, a long die scratch leaves the I in LIBERTY heading SE; an east-west scratch joins the 1 and 9 of the date; several east-west scratches lie under GOD; many north-south scratches cross Jefferson's forehead and face; and a gouge sits above the 4 in the date, toward its left side. On the reverse, many north-south scratches cover the field, with a strong one through the B in PLURIBUS. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
