1948 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-008

Description

1948-S WRPM-008 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies south of the primary S (S/S South). On the obverse, a die scratch links the upper nose with the bottom of TRUST's second T, running north, and many other scratches appear across the obverse. On the reverse, a strong scratch connects MONTICELLO's N with the V in FIVE, running south, and many other scratches, mostly north-south, cover the reverse. John Bordner submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #2. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
