1948 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1948-S WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary S is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (S/S Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, under the date's 4 sits a small die gouge, while north-south scratches lie just right of the back of the head. On the reverse, NNW/SSE scratches lie right of Monticello and the mint mark; NW/SE scratches cross FIVE; and many other scratches appear across the reverse. Brian Ribar submitted the variety, and Wexler's comments note that he took the photo of the RPM. Wexler lists no cross-references.
