1948 (D) Franklin Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

1948-D WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1948-D Franklin half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. A light spread toward the center appears on GOD, LIBERTY's L and the first T in TRUST, and some other letters of GOD WE TRUST show weaker doubling. On the obverse, a light NE/SW scratch sits between LIBERTY's L and the head. WWHR-001's doubling also shows on the reverse. Between the rim and ED of UNITED are E/W scratches, and inside the D in UNITED, at its left center, a short N/S scratch. Wayne Carson submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
