Description

The 1948 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. Total mintage reached 4.0 million. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right, while the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Designed by John R. Sinnock/John Frederick Lewis. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6652. The Franklin Half Dollar honored founding father Benjamin Franklin, making it one of the few U.S. A short series (1948-1963) that is completable in high grade with modest investment.
