1947 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-009

Description

1947-S WRPM-009 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S West: the extra S lies west of the primary. Obverse Stage A: a north-south gouge on the forehead ending at the hairline; north-south scratches from the nose to the chin; north-south scratches under the chin; and a north-south scratch right of the mint mark. On Obverse Stage B all markers are faint. Reverse Stage A: north-south scratches over most of the reverse; a strong scratch running south from between UNITED's U and N through OF's O, stopping at the wheat stem's top; and a long scratch from the upper loop of STATES' first S running south to end between AMERICA's E and R. On Reverse Stage B most north-south scratches are faint or no longer show. Paul Funaiole submitted Stage A and John Bordner Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
