Description

1947-S WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1947-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. IGWT's letters show a CCW spread. The obverse also has a repunched mint mark, which the Wexler RPM Files carry as 1947-S 1¢ WRPM-006: a Sans Serif S punched over a Trumpet Tail S. Obverse Stage A: a long field scratch east of the profile; field scratches above and right of the 19; scratches between the 1 and 9 and below them; a southward scratch from the 4's bottom to the mint mark; scratches running north from the tops of LIBERTY's TY; and a gouge at the top left of LIBERTY's T. Obverse Stage B adds a gouge right of WE's E and a gouge left of the upper part of TRUST's first T. Obverse Stage C adds chips on the edge of the beard and on the edge of the lapel below the bow tie, and Obverse Stage D a chip right of the ear. Reverse Stage A: a north-south scratch above PLURIBUS's L; a short scratch inside UNITED's upper E; a field chip up and right of AMERICA's M; and a strong north-south scratch between the bottom legs of AMERICA's AM. Reverse Stage B adds a chip inside UNITED's lower N, Reverse Stage C a gouge right of UNUM's first U, and Reverse Stage D a chip on the edge of the right wheat stalk, left of STATES' last S. Brian Ribar submitted Stages A and C, and Scott Rusch Stages B and D. Coppercoins lists it as 1947S-1DO-003.
