1947 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-003

Description

1947-S WRPM-003 is a repunched mint mark on the 1947-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S North: the extra S lies north of the primary. Obverse Stage A: east-west gouges above GOD's G; a SW scratch from the bottom of that G; a NE scratch from the top right edge of the date's 1 into the field above; a SW/NE scratch left of the mint mark; and multiple east-west gouges on the lower bust. On Obverse Stage B all Stage A markers are weak. Reverse Stage A: north-south scratches inside ONE's O and to its right; scratches forming a long, upside-down V right of that O; and a scratch running south from the field into the lower part of STATES' last S. Reverse Stage B adds a gouge under the lower arm of OF's F. John A. Wexler submitted Stage A and John Bordner Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #3 and Coppercoins as 1947S-1MM-003.
