1946 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-002

Description

Bearing the prestigious FS-101 cross-reference from the Fivaz-Stanton Cherry Picker's Guide, the 1946 Washington Quarter DDO-002 is among the strongest doubled die obverses in the pre-1950 Washington Quarter series. Cataloged as UVC-072 and DMR-002 in the VarietyVista system, this variety shows strong spread on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the ribbon, and the designer's initials. Three die stages document the die's working life: Stage A represents the early die state, currently unconfirmed. Stage B places both the obverse and reverse at mid-die-state.
