1941-D Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006

Description

A strong doubled eyelid visible south of the normal eyelid constitutes the primary design doubling on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat Cent WDDO-006, cataloged by the Wexler research team with Variety ID 1941-D 1¢ WDDO-006. The 1941-D was produced at the Denver Mint in 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc bronze with Victor David Brenner's wheat ear reverse. Obverse die markers include an X-shaped die scratch pattern through the tip of Lincoln's nose; a series of vertical die scratches through the date; light diagonal scratches northeast of the E in WE; numerous vertical scratches through LIBERTY; and a concentric die scratch close to the rim below the V.D.B. initials. The reverse carries a diagonal die scratch running southwest from the lower portion of the last A in AMERICA. Cross-reference: Wexler Variety ID 1941-D 1¢ WDDO-006. The strong south-of-normal doubled eyelid is the primary doubling attribute, while the X-shaped nose scratch, concentric rim scratch near V.D.B., and the southwest AMERICA scratch on the reverse complete the full attribution diagnostic package for WDDO-006.
