Description
1940 WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse on the 1940 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A clockwise (CW) spread pivoting from about 3:00 shows on IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, strong scratches head NW from the top of the IN's I and N. The 1 in the date has a heavy WNW/ESE scratch leaving its bottom, and another heavy scratch heads west from the bottom of the 9. Wexler notes no reverse markers. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. The photos were taken for the Wexler Files by Billy G. Crawford.
