Description
A CW spread from a pivot at about 2:00 shows on IGWT, the date, and the lower queue and ribbon.Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A die scratch runs NNW/SSE inside the ear. A die scratch runs parallel to the rim between the L and I of LIBERTY. Obverse Stage B: A short die scratch runs ESE from the lower L in LIBERTY. Numerous SW/NE die scratches can be found on the lower back of the cheek. Reverse: The reverse is a strong doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1940 25¢ WDDR-001. Extremely strong Class VI extra thickness shows on USA, EPU, QUARTER DOLLAR, the outside of both wings, the branches and the leaves. A strong die gouge (dot) can be found on the eagle’s right wing well east of the U in UNITED.
