1940 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse DDO-009

Description

Very light spread on LIBERTY on the 1940 Washington Silver Quarter, requiring careful examination to confirm hub doubling against the strong relief of Flanagan's portrait. Die tracking: UVC-0123, DMR-011. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: obverse is MDS with numerous die scratches developing on the reverse, also MDS. Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). The Stage B reverse scratches provide a secondary attribution marker when the light obverse doubling is difficult to assess.
