1940-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-008

Description
On the Lincoln Wheat Cent, WRPM-008 displays a D/D tilted (rotated) repunched mintmark. Obverse die markers are particularly distinctive: a northeast-southwest die crack runs through the hair and head below WE, branching into a Y shape at its southwest terminus. This Y-shaped crack provides one of the more memorable diagnostic features among Lincoln Cent RPMs. An additional die crack appears in the hair below WE. Reverse markers include a weak die scratch north from the lower inside of the O in OF, a weak die scratch running north-northwest from the left upper side of the O in OF to the top of the U in UNITED, and a small die chip dot at the right side of the left wheat ear positioned slightly below center of the O in OF. The cluster of three reverse markers near the O in OF creates a concentrated diagnostic zone that collectors can survey efficiently.
